Release Announcement: Expanding Possibilities With All-New Zmanda 4.2

Zmanda 4.2 Press Release

[Broomfield, Colorado, October 2022]

We are pleased to announce our all-new Zmanda 4.2 release, packed with numerous customer-driven enhancements and features.

This new release includes immutable backups to protect against ransomware, on-demand backups with Global Exclusion Policies, and a Zmanda setup utility for bulk actions. Zmanda 4.2 also incorporates security enhancements and compatibility with RHEL 9, Rocky Linux 9, Debian 11, and Windows 11 operating systems.

These features make Zmanda easy to use, easy to scale and keep you free from ransomware attacks.

Remarkable New Features and Enhancements of Zmanda 4.2

Security against Ransomware with Immutable Backups: It locks the backups for the required amount of time in AWS and Wasabi cloud storage with the Immutable Backups option to protect the stored data against ransomware.

Global Exclusion Policies for Streamlined Backups on Linux Systems: The Global Exclusion Policy feature enables you to use one exclude policy for 100s of Linux sources. You no longer need to add manual exclusion paths to Linux sources. This allows you to not only save media space but will also save the time required to restore data during outages.

Compatible with Newer Versions of Operating Systems: Zmanda 4.2 expands compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Rocky Linux 9, Debian 11, and Windows 11 operating systems to allow you to stay updated on technology without compromising on backups.

Enhanced Security: The 4.2 release has hardened the product against security vulnerabilities. With this update, your data backed up with Zmanda will not be exposed to attackers, ransomware, and malware in any way.

Faster and Seamless Setup with Bulk Actions for Zmanda Setup Utility: A new utility is added to Zmanda 4.2 to simplify tasks of setting up Zmanda Sources, Backupsets, Schedules, Storages, and Backup Servers in bulk with a single operation. Thus, speeding up the process of setting up Zmanda in your backup environment.

“Zmanda 4.2 is packed with a lot of new and exciting features for our customers. We are continuing our efforts to make the backups more reliable and secure. In this release, we are adding Ransomware protection capabilities with immutable backups, Zmanda deployments in containers format, and enhancements to scale up Zmanda for environments with thousands of endpoints and petabytes of data.”
