When a server won't boot,
it's a race against time.
Modern ransomware doesn't just encrypt files—it corrupts operating systems, disables boot processes. Rebuilding systems and restoring file level backups takes hours and more.
A true Bare Metal Disaster Recovery Solution dramatically reduces recovery time from days or hours down to just minutes.
How Zmanda Pro achieves
Bare Metal Backup and Recovery
Start your free trial
Step 1: Complete system image backup
Zmanda creates a full disk-image backup of your Windows or Linux server. For Windows, we use Microsoft's native VSS for application-consistent snapshots. For Linux, we use LVM or our custom snapshot driver to ensure consistency.
Step 2: Create universal recovery media
Proactively create a bootable USB or ISO file. For restores to new or different hardware, you can easily inject the necessary storage and network drivers directly into this media, eliminating boot failures.
Step 3: Boot and restore to any machine
Boot any "bare metal" machine—physical, virtual, or cloud—from the recovery media. Connect to your backup location and restore the entire system image. Your server is back online, exactly as it was.

| Feature | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Recovery to new hardware |
Transparent Driver Injection. You control the process for guaranteed success.
|
Automated "Universal Restore." A black-box approach that can be difficult to troubleshoot.
|
Strong for VMs, but can be complex for physical servers with dissimilar hardware.
|
| Supported environments |
True Hybrid. Exceptional support for both physical & virtual Windows, Linux, and macOS
|
Broad support, but pushes a bundled cybersecurity suite you may not need.
|
Virtualization-First. Best-in-class for VMware/Hyper-V, but physical server support is less of a focus.

| Pricing model |
Simple per-workload pricing. Save over 50% on TCO.
|
Often capacity-based ("pay-by-the-gig") with extra costs for advanced features.
