Steps to transition your backups from Amanda Community to Zmanda
A full migration/upgrade of jobs, sources, storage, configurations, etc., from Amanda Community (Amanda) to Zmanda is not possible.
Rather, you must transition from Amanda to Zmanda as you would transition from any other backup software.
Transitioning from Amanda Community (Amanda) to Zmanda requires a full uninstallation of the Amanda components, including the Backup Server and Clients. We will go over the steps to do so here:
1. Uninstall the Amanda Backup Server
//Search for the amanda-backup_server rpm package sudo rpm -qa | grep amanda //Uninstall the Server rpm -e [Amanda Server Package Name]
2. Uninstall the Amanda Clients
//Search for the amanda-backup_client rpm package sudo rpm -qa | grep amanda //Uninstall the Client rpm -e [Amanda Client Package Name]
3. Install the Zmanda Server using the instructions here
4. Install the Zmanda Clients using the instructions here. Select the appropriate source type and follow the corresponding steps.
