Management Team
Chander Kant
Chander is the CEO and a founder of Zmanda. Chander provides a unique combination of leadership in open source and data protection software. He has been involved on both the technology and business sides of open source software and was named one of the "Top 20 Linux Luminaries" by Linux World Magazine in 2004. Prior to Zmanda, Chander founded and ran LinuxCertified, Inc., an open source product and services company. Earlier in his career, Chander was a business development executive at VERITAS software and served as a product line manager for storage software at SGI. Chander holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Paddy Sreenivasan
Paddy is the Vice President of Engineering and a founder of Zmanda, Inc. He is responsible for technical strategy and development of leading software products for data protection. Paddy has over 13 years of experience in development and management of software for enterprise storage. In addition, he has worked with various open source communities, including leading the development of an open source high-availability clustering solution. Prior to founding Zmanda, he had key engineering roles at Cisco, SGI and HP. He holds a Bachelor's degree from BITS, Pilani and a Master's degree from the University of Pune, India.

Peter Buhl
General Partner, co-founded BlueRun Ventures in 1998. Prior to BlueRun Ventures, Pete spent 8 years in senior financial and operational roles at information technology companies including Ipsilon Networks and Software Alliance Corporation. He began his career at Price Waterhouse and is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to Zmanda, Pete serves on the Board of Directors of Atrua Technologies, Cornice, FreedomPay, Netli, Nevis Networks and WaveMarket.
Deepak Kamra
General Partner, joined Canaan in 1991 after eleven years of operating responsibility in the telecommunications, computer, and software industries. Prior to joining Canaan, he held several senior sales and marketing positions at Aspect Communications, a successful Silicon Valley based startup in the call-center and switching industry. He previously held positions at ROLM Corporation and was General Manager of a division of TRW Datacomm International. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. In addition to Zmanda, Deepak currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Aperto Networks, e4e, GroundWork, InfiniRoute, Loyalty Lab, ON24, and Qovia.
Ashish Gupta
Managing Director and an Investment Advisor at Helion Ventures Partners. Prior to Helion, Ashish was most recently a venture partner at Woodside Fund, investing in early stage companies. He invested in and co-founded Tavant technologies, a $50 million+ revenue company. Before Tavant, he was at Amazon.com which he joined through acquisition of Junglee which Ashish co–founded. He has also worked at Oracle Corporation and at IBM's Almaden Research Center. Ashish holds a Ph.D. from Stanford and a bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, where he was awarded the President's Gold medal.
