Community Overview
In October of 2006 we asked Amanda community to answer a few questions
about their usage of Amanda. Please review here the Results of Amanda Users Survey.
Over the last year we have significantly contributed to the success of the open source Amanda project. Since 1991 the Amanda community has released several versions of the highly scalable network backup and recovery software that protects hundreds of thousands of Linux, UNIX, and Windows servers all over the world. We have accelerated the momentum of Amanda development, resulting in the 2.5.0 and 2.5.1 releases of Amanda. We are also providing resources to the Community in the form of hardware, collaboration tools and sponsorships for key developers. In the coming months, you will continue to see significant contributions to the Amanda project coming from Zmanda.
Recently we released Zmanda Recovery Manager for MySQL, the first comprehensive backup and recovery solution specifically designed for MySQL DBAs. As a matter of fact, many DBAs and System Administrators contributed to the ZRM project by providing their requirements and use cases for MySQL backup and recovery. Addressing the real needs of DBAs, ZRM is the only solution for MySQL that provides granular Recovery Point Objective, so a DBA can recover a database to a point in time just before data loss happened.
If you are interested in using open source backup and recovery software, please download our products from the downloads page. Community users would benefit if you would provide feedback, success stories and best practices through forums discussions or documentation.
If you are already developing open source backup and recovery software or are interested in participating in one--or if you just want to talk to us about our community efforts, please send an email to community (at) zmanda.com
